America IS Great!
But there is always room for improvement.
As I reflect on this Fourth of July I’m reminded that what truly makes this country great is the diversity of input to all of elements of your society. There is no place else on earth I’d rather have our little, blended family; A Jewish city boy and Lutheran farm girl raising a Cambodian adoptee to the tenants of Moses, Jesus, the Buddha and whoever else makes sense. It’s a great time and we are in a great place.
Don’t let anyone tell you this is not a great country.
Meg Eubank:
It’s hard to find someone whose family has been in the USA longer than Meg Eubank’s, given that her father’s family immigrated here in the 1600’s.
Chinese Lantern Festival – Low Light Photo Heaven

Finding the Good in the Bad
I think you need to break a lens every now and then in order to keep things fresh.
Do try this at home:
This lens used in this photo is an old Nikon 50mm 1.4 manual focus lens that had been treated harshly over the years.
Goose.
Sometimes an image works well on its own as a sight gag. Other times you need a one word cue.
Duck, Duck ….
Exotic Travel Photography at Home (?)
This image, and the associated gallery, detail how one can photograph an ethnic event in a large US city and leave little or now evidence that the photos were taken in the USA. The gallery in the link below was actually shot in Philadelphia, PA.
The key is to photograph as close in to your subject as possible.
Nighttime Street Photography
One of the greatest advantages of digital photography is that now you can photograph the night like no one ever could before.
A Friend in Concert
I love it when I can help out a friend. Laura Mann is a veteran pop artist who opened for some of the biggest acts of the 90’s. But forget all that, she’s also a dear friend and one of my favorite all time photo models.
And next weekend, she’s playing a the renowned Philadelphia Clef Club. Please go check her out and show a home town girl some support.
Here are the details:

Hands
Hands portraits rival the face as a way to show a persons’ character. Any time I’m doing a portrait session, I try to get at a least a few hand photos in.
