Finding the Good in the Bad

I think you need to break a lens every now and then in order to keep things fresh.

Do try this at home:

This lens used in this photo is an old Nikon 50mm 1.4 manual focus lens that had been treated harshly over the years.  I removed the F-mount and most the aperture ring and pinned the f/stop to 1.4 by holding it open and putting in a drop of crazy glue.

Since I cannot mount the lens to my camera any more, I hold it in front of the camera while watching through the display to see when I like the focus.  Holding it on slightly canted angles allows interesting light spills and focal planes.
