Philippine Family Values: Mae Claire

Mae Claire is an a brilliant model and actor who lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  A naturalized U.S.  Citizen  who was born in the Philippines and has lived in the USA since she was six years old.  Mae identifies as Filipino American and feels comfortable straddling two cultures.

When I asked Mae about what her Philippine background means to her, she immediately said that the closeness of her family was the most important thing.  For Mae everything centers around family, much more so than with others that she’s observed.

Her favorite Filipino food is a savory stew called sinigang which is flavored with tamarind and often has fish sauce added.

Currently Mae is in acting school and close to completing her Bachelors degree.

Steve’s note:

Right now, lot of people in the USA seem to fear immigrants and people who are different from them. I believe that photos and profiles can show that everyone deserves love and support, no matter what their background.  This series is meant to demonstrate this universal humanity.

Great photo. Everything in this photo could portray simplicity but depth in life. Family values could impact what the photo shows. Black and white could mean simple choice versus colorful but complex way of life.
    Great job Steve and Mae!
